The information on seismicity contained in this APP is generated by the IPMA seismic surveillance system, distributed by the operational centers on the mainland and the Azores, using the national seismic network installed on the mainland and in the archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira, which is complemented with seismic stations belonging to other international agencies. With regard to earthquakes originating further away from the national territory, information is only available on those recorded by the instrumentation of the seismic network operating in Portugal, typically only those with a magnitude greater than 5.0.
